Did you know..........

No one really know why we have candles on birthday cakes? It is a fact lost in history, but some think it is because the ancient Greeks use to make round cakes in honor of the full moon and take use them in worship of their goddess Artemis. She was the goddess of the moon. It is said the Greeks placed candles around the cake to resemble a glowing full moon. Do you suppose they sang a song when they did this!

Manufacturer surveys show that 90% of all candles are purchased by women.

Votives, container candles and pillars are currently the most popular types of candles

It is estimated that more than 10,000 different candle scents are available

Approximately 35% of candle sales occur during the Christmas/Holiday season. Non-seasonal business accounts for approximately 65% of candle sales.

Fragrance is by far the most important characteristic impacting candle purchases today, with three-fourths of candle buyers saying it is “extremely important" or "very important" in their selection of a candle.

Approximately three-fourths of candle users say they typically burn candles for 4 hours or less per sitting.

Candle users say they most frequently burn candles in the living room (42%), followed by the kitchen (18%) and the bedroom (13%).

Both men and women consider candles to be an always-acceptable and highly appreciated gift for a wide variety of occasions.

Approximately one in five women say they use candles to decorate the yard, patio or other exterior areas, as well as the interior of their home.
Candles generally can be categorized into 11 basic types: tapers, votives, pillars, container(or jar) candles, tealights, liturgical candles, outdoor candles, floating candles, novelty candles, utility candles, and birthday candles.

Customer service

I have learnt a very valuable lesson that we all need to learn again. Good Customer service really does go a long way.

I was at restaurant with a group of friends really enjoying the atmosphere, being a bit loud but having loads of fun. Our waitress was giving us the most beautiful service anyone could ask, she was also enjoying, being able to assist us in anyway, even though we were loud and having a joke many times.
We really enjoyed her time with us, that it was obvious that she was looking after us really well. It put a smile on all of our faces to see that, good quality service was an alive and well. Not the usual “yes, I am serving you because you are here, but really being respected, and making us really enjoy our dining experience.”
If we could receive that type of service all over the world what a better place it would be.

One our next day of the weekend, we went to Mc’s for breakfast on the run. While the service was ok, 10 people waiting in line and 4 staff at the checkout but only one doing anything was a bit frustrating. Then we went to purchase some items for the road and found out it was out of Time (date). One of my daughters had already eating one at breakfast, so I went to talk to the manager. He was very polite and said he was sorry & we received our refund, but at no time did he bother about my daughter. Even though she did not get sick on the way home, the fact that he did not seemed concerned that the apple pie had been in the pie warmer for the past 2 days. The level of service by big companies that should know better is not always better. I would go back to our little restaurant and receive fantastic service any day.

I hope to take a leaf out of our waitress’s book and create customer service; our customers would love from the beginning to the end. The little touches do go a long way. Thank you

Love

Love, it comes in all shapes & forms. You love your partners, children, family, friends, work collegues, inspirational people that enter your life everyday. When you go through your day today, look at all of the little contacts you make today and give appreciation for that person being in your life. It may be a smile, a wave, thank you from someone, a a great job done for you, someone gave you are car park, a telephone call, just to catch up. An invitation to go to lunch, dinner or just coffee. Say yes and if you can't go on that day make a plan to meet and stick to it. We all know that life get very busy, but as the world is showing us now we need to smell the roses and love one another every moment of the day.
Thank you for your time on spreading the love today.
